Well. That was quite longer of a visit to New York than I'd anticipated. Frankly, I have neither the memory nor the notes to give detailed reports of two weeks of goofing around, so here are the basic highlights:

  1. Montien I - Dennis's birthday, General [livejournal.com profile] kinfae representing, people getting generally wasted, and an unusual amount of dancing by me.
  2. The Gemini Semi-Patriotic BBQ - The usual socializing, tomfoolery, and consumption of grotesque amounts of grilled meat. Good times!
  3. The Blanket, Pillow, and 80's Cartoon Extravaganza - A new event, basically self-explanatory. Also...Rainbow Brite can kick Strawberry Shortcake's candy ass.
  4. Montien II - More drunken revelry, some of it unintentional; I had decided to only have beer and keep things under control, though Johnny felt otherwise and kept sliding whiskey my way. Caught up with Tom ([livejournal.com profile] enhat), amused at our similarity in head attire, and met his sister for the first time.
  5. Gamer hangout in Queens - sort of a D&D campaign idea playtest.

For extra fun, match these quotes with the above events. No points. :)

  1. "Actually, I think I will open the reactor core, woman. AHHHH, MY FACE!"
  2. "Can I, like, bully her somehow into having sex with me for free?"
  3. "Homeless people are just lazy."
  4. "There! Another panty shot!"
  5. "Wow, your nipples are pretty big." (Bonus: Who's nipples?)

Interspersed among the aforementioned activities was generally a lot of poker, some video gaming, some Scrabble, and some movies.

There's not a lot to say for the actual transit, I guess, save that Greyhound still remains a poorer ride than NJ Transit. On the ride up, I sat in that back row, which I guess was my own fault, but it still wasn't that fun. For one, the seat was...unusual. Basically I spent a few hours sitting uncomfortably and having my ass squeezed into an unaturally squared-off shape. For two, I was right next to the bathroom and had to rearrange every time someone went by to take care of some business. Between that and the lovely wafting scent of chemical toilet, toward the end I just felt like telling people to hold it in. The right back to SoJo was a better seat, to be sure (though it was decorated with the scribbled graffiti "Fuck Arizona"), but I sadly sat right near the loudest damn people on the bus, who kept up an irritatingly voluminous conversation basically the whole time. Between them and the way-too-loud-on-the-cell-phone-in-a-foreign-language lady behind me, I was wishing for some earplugs. I never seem to have so many inconveniences with NJ Transit, but the schedule is a lot less easy to deal with. Whatever, though...it's cheap and it gets the job done. Onward. :)

I've apparently got a few things to deal with back here on the SoJo front, so I'm trying to knock that out today, along with the usual online catchup and stuff. (Why, oh why, can I not keep a tidy e-mail inbox?) My apologies to all those I need to contact; I'm working on it! In the meantime, though, here's some stuff from the queue.

A couple things came up recently that really brought it home for me that poker is pretty much just a nerd sport. Part of this was this recent post and comment thread in the [livejournal.com profile] poker community that highlights a lot of crossover between big-time poker tournament players and professional Magic: the Gathering players. It's not that interesting a read; I just thought I'd point it out. What is an interesting read, however, is this article about what I'd say I'd consider a pretty dedicated poker enthusiast. Definitely give that one a read.

On the entertainment front, I've got two things to point out. One, Atomic Sock Monkey Press has released the supers RPG Truth & Justice; you can read the press release here. Two, I've been seeing stuff now and then about the video game Destroy All Humans which I admit I didn't know much about, and yet was still drawn to just for the title. Via the John Tynes blog, though, I was pointed to this article, which makes me wants the game all the more. Oh yeah. :)

Lastly, what would a post of mine be without some orgasm talk? Here's an article about male premature ejaculation and what you can do about it. Cheers!
