From Overheard in New York:

Man on cell: Yo, I gotta call you back. I'm watching my man Jack McCoy. Nigga be lockin' everybody up!

Preach it, brother.

So [livejournal.com profile] failedoptimist posted recently (here) about Jimmy Meng having a roll-your-own-law competition or something. This not only struck me as an awesome idea, but also interesting considering an article from last week's Onion: Congress Abandons WikiConstitution. I don't know about all y'all, but a WikiConstitution sounds pretty hot to me. I'll have to give that serious consideration when Robtopia gets going.

I've been eating a lot of Top Ramen lately. It's, you know...bulky and cheap. I figure I'll probably be eating more of it as time goes on, just since it's a nice way to save money, if poison myself. Today, though, was a red letter day in my recent ramen-eating history when I discovered that a package I opened came with an extra flavor pack. At first I felt that same boost of happiness I feel whenever I get any unexpected bonus packaged in with my stuff for free, but the more I thought about it, the more I started wondering whether this was actually any good. I mean...what, really, am I going to do with an extra pack of Top Ramen flavoring? It's not like they sell a flavorless pack of Top Ramen. I figured maybe I could just whip up some spaghetti or something and fake it...and then I realized that spaghetti might actually cost more than Top Ramen. Oh, extra flavor pack, how you taunt me! Maybe I can make a sandwich.

Speaking of disgusting food, today is Ray Kroc's birthday. To those not in the know, this is the man who founded McDonald's. I'm considering having some McDonald's today to celebrate. Say what you want about the quality of the food, the state of the industry, whatever...the man did engender an indelible American, nay, global, icon. I guess I could put away some McNuggets. Ironically, about a week and a half from now is like World Anti-McDonald's Day (October 16th). While I realize this is tied to some other event (Greenpeace Food Day or something like that), I wonder if the founders of this movement realized that if they only moved their Anti-McDonald's Day a bit up, they could have landed it on Ray Kroc's birthday. Oh, well...the road not taken.

I'm now on Day 4 of my not-going-to-the-casino streak. I'm not sure why it's shaking out this way...I've just been feeling unmotivated to get my gamble on, frankly. I can't say I've really been doing much with my time, although I started watching House on DVD, so that's fun. Otherwise just a lot of reading and poking around online. Exciting. :)

Well, there's this, and RPGNet review of a new card game called Wench. It's about what you'd expect from something called Wench, methinks. Between this and SPANC, I'm not really sure I like this trend in the industry. Big ups go to Wench, though, for having cards that you can also use as regular playing cards. I mean, sure, there are plenty of naughty decks of playing cards around, but I bet none of them are illustrated with gamer art. :)

Nothing much else going on, I guess, except that I've booked my ticket home: I'll be getting back to New York on Thursday the 13th, a week from tomorrow, and I can't imagine why I wouldn't hit Montien that night. So there ya go. I'll probably then spend the weekend in New York, and then it'll be back to Jersey for at least two weeks for various reasons. After that...well, it's anyone's guess. Be seein' some of you soon!

I scoff at Palladium as much as the next guy...but then there's the X-Mas Grab Bag. Check out the RPG Blog post here.
