Who's the more nerdy, the nerd, or the nerd who listens to the other nerd's podcast? I'll leave you to ponder that while I get on with the update.

So. Been a little while. I'll attempt to recap in a nutshell. When last we left off, Momz was returning from her travels and taking away the mantle of leadership of the household from yours truly, of which I have to admit I had grown rather fond. Anyway, that more or less immediately segued into my spending the weekend with Steph ([livejournal.com profile] panyang) in Atlantic City, though I'm sure there was some poker involved before that weekend happened.

The weekend was most excellent. Steph headed down to visit SoJo, so we took on Atlantic City in the best way we know how: we lounged a lot. When we weren't busy lounging, we would generally cruise the Boardwalk spending time (and quarters) in the arcade racking up Skee-Ball points. (Besides achieving personal bests at the game, I also got the place's special high score bonus prize. Woot!) The weekend involved suprisingly little gambling, but was a great amount of fun what with all the Boardwalk activities and movies on TV. Unfortunately, Steph was feeling under the weather with a nasty cough for much of the visit, but all in all I think it was a pretty fun time.

Anyhoo...as many of you are aware by now, I then failed to come back to New York with her. I've got some bizness to attend to this weekend that would better be served by my being in SoJo, so New York is going to wait a little while...probably sometime next week. As always, I'll keep y'all posted.

After Steph went back to New York, I took a day or so of recovery and didn't get a whole lot done, methinks. Though Momz and I did hit one of her favored spots around these parts, an all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet. She does like those all-you-can-eat Chinese buffets. The rest of my time since then has pretty much been spent catching up with online stuff (or at least trying), walking around a lot, and (of course) playing poker. My poker habits are branching out slightly: I've started throwing multitabling and more tournament play into the mix, but otherwise it's business as usual in that direction.

And that's pretty much that, I think; not a whole lot of interest going on. Not so for tomorrow, though, for as [livejournal.com profile] bloodraynn has so kindly reminded us, Friday, January 27th is LiveJournal Rabbit Hole Day. Gear up, everybody!

Anyone remember a while back when I posted about Rock-Paper-Scissors-Spock-Lizard? Well, forget that shit. The new hotness is apparently RPS25, a stunning explosion of hand-signal-superiority-determining creativity that boggles the mind. "Devil enrages monkey." "Dragon flosses with dynamite." Study hard...there will be a quiz.

Oh, there was another thing. So...my sister, in all her glorious generosity, bestowed upon me a Wynn brand MP3 player. (Yeah...as in Wynn. [Warning: annoying web site.]) Not being up with all the schmancy new technology, I believe the closest iPod analog to this thing is a Shuffle. In any case, it's neat. This is my first trip into the world of MP3 players, so I was excited to try it out. Sadly, this being my first trip into the world of MP3 players, I didn't really have a lot of MP3s laying around, so I just loaded it up with whatever I had laying around and went on my way. This is pretty much just stuff that comes naturally (and legally) off the Internet, so basically it means my MP3 player is pretty barren right now except for MC Frontalot and Lords of the Rhymes. That aside, though, I thought having this baby around might give me a good opportunity to download episodes of Loveline so I could listen to them as I was tooling around doing whatever it is I do. I started poking around in that direction when I made a discovery that I guess I should have been prepared for already: Adam Carolla is no longer on the show. I should really have already figured this out, frankly, because I see he's doing all this other stuff these days, but it still stung...could I possibly enjoy Loveline as much without Ace? Honestly, I didn't try. Hey, besides, I had something else laying around I could listen to...a podcast!

And so we come to the topic I used to open this post. You see, I just happened to grab me a copy of Radio Free Burrito Episode 4, which just happens to be the latest installment of the podcast of Space Nerd Wil Wheaton. It was late afternoon, I felt like taking a walk, so I loaded that bad boy up on my new player (as yet unnamed), hit the road, and took that doodad on its first field test. I also listened to Wil Wheaton's podcast. It was funny! My first podcast, and I think I chose a good one. I know this probably isn't up most of your collective alley, but the bit with the pine needles was funny, anyway. It was humorous and...I dunno...heartwarming? Anyway, it was cool, and I'm glad I listened to it. I also found it strangely inspirational in that sort of "get off your ass and do something" way, so I guess in a way it's also largely responsible for this blog post. In any case, thought, if you like Space Nerd Wil Wheaton, and if you've got a free 47 minutes or so, then check out that podcast. Yeah.

So...what is it about tales of bathroom behavior that I find so fascinating? We may never know, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't check out this latest gem from [livejournal.com profile] hipstomp. I love that stuff.

Anyway, I think that's about it for now. I still feel woefully behind on just about everything I've got on my plate these days, so...that's no fun. I hope you enjoyed taking this little break with me, though. No matter how busy I am procrastinating, there's always time for a little something to do instead right? Right. Okay, back to it, then. Peace!
