Come on, man. Really?

In completely separate news, this kinda reminds me of the tools at Perverted Justice. Know what I'm sayin'?

Ugh. Morning.

So...I don't think I'm in the habit of rebroadcasting nerd stuffs like this too often, but this seemed kinda important. A recent Microsoft patch can apparently act destructively toward files, which is always sad. The patch is MS06-049/KB920958, and it's for W2K, I believe. It's also like a month old, so I don't know if this news is all that helpful at this point, but...you never know. Slashdot story here.

So back when I reveled in the Bachelorhood and Boxed Dinner lifestyle, one of my favorite things to do was whip up a box of macaroni and cheese and throw a can of chili into it. (That's, uh...minus the can, you know.) It's quick and easy, incredibly filling, and tasty. I decided that that would make a quick and easy meal for me tonight, as well, except I'd also throw some veggies in there for good measure. It's my goal these days to eat at least one tomato with every meal, you see. So I put on some water to boil, diced up some tomato, and got out my last box of mac and cheese. Hmm...it appears I purchased the white variety instead of the yellow variety. Odd. But, whatever, I'm sure it will be fine. In rooting around for more vegetable matter, I decided that I couldn't go wrong with onion, so I cut up some onion for the dish as well. Eventually, everything ended up in the pot. So here's what we've got so far: white mac and cheese, chili, tomatoes, and onion. It occurred to me at that point that everything in this dish was either white or red. Funny, that. :) I dished myself a bowlful and decided that I could go a step further and top it with a little sour cream. While in the fridge, I decided I should see if I could throw a red condiment in there, too, just to keep with the theme. Hmm, ketchup? Nah...ooh, salsa! So there you go...topped with a little salsa and a little sour cream, I had a nice little completely red and white dish to suck down while perusing my online life. Mmm...white and red.

Also...it occurs to me that salsa and sour cream are a great normalizing force. I could put them on anything and it would probably taste the same as anything else with salsa and sour cream on them. Clearly they represent a large amount of the primal force of Fundament. (Huh?)

Anyhoo. So...first day of dealer school today. This was...clearly an introductory class. "This is a table. These are chips. This is how you count to twenty." So honestly I'm not expecting a whole hell of a lot out of the next couple weeks, but that's fine. All in all, I'm glad I have a reason to leave the house. The school is really cool...they have this great mock casino for a classroom. I've never done anything like this...this isn't like school school...this is solely for the purpose of getting a job. Everything done here is 100% practical. This is exactly what people should do to get jobs. I am pleased. Except for the part about how I can't skip this just by saying that, yes, I've spent the last couple years hanging out in a casino. ;) But all things considered, that's a tiny quibble. I'm happy to be doing this.

I'm also tired, so I'm afraid I don't have a lot of pizzazz at the moment. As is always the case whenever things change in my life, I'm going to have to spend some time finding a new rhythm and routine and such. If today is any indication, I really won't be able to trust NJ Transit to keep to a schedule on the way in, so I'm just going to have to deal with committing to the start of my commute way earlier than is necessary. Bummer, but...c'est la vie. I'm also going to see if I can manage to keep myself fed with home supplies, because I really don't fancy the idea of blowing money on Food Out In The World on a daily basis. Of secondary importance, I'm still trying to work out a way to get some good gambling in while I've gone through the bother of heading into A.C., but dog care is not making that easy, so...I may leave that alone for now. Anyway, though...first day went well. I hope the whole thing goes as smoothly.

Peace!
