flatvurm: (fringehead bedhole)
I am currently deep in the haze of sleep dep, so I figured, hey, why not get a blog post up there while the gettin's good? I worked over the weekend, as I tend to do, and then after my shift on Saturday I got a few hours of sleep before getting up and hauling out of the house again. Here's how it went down. Occasionally, the Trop will have these drawings for cash prizes...like a raffle, I guess. You earn entries in this raffle with your play at the casino, so as Momz and I go about our various gambly lives we rack up a few points here and there and once in a while show up for these cash drawings. I actually don't go that often. I mean, a shot at free money is always nice, but more often than not I just choose to sleep in, instead. See...these things are often held during normal, human hours, which are not hours that I frequent much any more.

Anyway. So Momz generally attends these things, and she was making a point of attending this latest one (which was on Sunday), so we decided to make a day of it, and that I'd catch up with her at some point so that after everything was finished up at the casino we could hang out and get dinner and stuff. Anyway, I decided to go for the whole shebang, so I woke up early on Sunday and hauled out to the casino. While there, I failed to win any free money, but I did at least get in many hours of sleepy-ass poker. At which I lost money, by the way, so on the whole I can't say the day did much for my bankroll. ;) But anyway, after all that was done, Momz and I set out for food and ended up heading to an all-you-can-eat Chinese food buffet, at which I gorged myself into mild retardation. So that was fun.

After that I headed home to chill a bit, but then Angela called me and was just finishing up hanging out with some of her peeps, so we chilled for a little bit. Then, as often happens with us, we got in a fight and parted ways. Eventually I got a few more hours of sleep until she called me up again at the fucking crack of dawn, because there's no time like the present to work out your personal problems. I mean that with all sincerity, by the way; I just wish I'd gotten more sleep in the bargain.

Anyway. So we made up and then spent much of the day hanging out. We almost always have Chinese or Vietnamese food when we hang out, so it was completely strange that somehow we ended up going to IHOP this evening. I hadn't eaten since the buffet, so I gorged myself again, this time into mid-level retardation. I think it was the extra carbs; I'm a man who can't handle his pancakes, ya know? So that was also fun. I marveled that my new eating pattern seems to be eating one gigantic meal per day with nothing in between. Between that and the three hours of sleep a night, I can't say this is a really healthy road for me to be going down. In any case, I work again tomorrow, so hopefully I'll be resetting into some semblance of normalcy. Ish.

And today was my dad's birthday. We traded e-mails. I guess that's about all I can say about that.

And I think that's about it. Amazing how I had two whole days off and not a lot of time to myself. Gonna treat myself to some serious bedholing soon. Hope things are hoopy with all y'all. Smell ya later, everybody. Peace!

So you know those pieces of spam you get wanting you to buy products to enlarge your penis? I sometimes enjoy the creative subject lines they come up with, I guess in an attempt to bypass keyword spam filters. I was cleaning my spam trap today and I ran across what I think is the best one in quite some time: "Your super mega beast will grow like on yeast." Nice!

So, having gotten a bit of free time to myself last night, I managed to continue with the Video Game Movie Project and finally got around to a screening of BloodRayne 2: Deliverance. As advertised, this was indeed BloodRayne in the old west, with a vampire Billy the Kid. I guess...I guess that's all you really need to know about that. The actress from the first movie actually made a much better BloodRayne, at least if I'm any judge from what I've seen on the game cover art. I've never played the games, but I looked into them a bit and something I found interesting was that both the movies took place in time periods not covered by either of the games, so I guess all four items have more or less unrelated storylines, save that they share a common main character. This is probably the cleanest way to go for screen adaptations, but its certainly a much easier (read: more plausible?) thing to pull off with such a long-lived character as Rayne. In any case, the movie really wasn't anything to write home about. It didn't seem to suffer from the same pacing issues as the first movie, which at least made it less of a chore to watch, but it also was just...well, on the bland side. Not even the absurdity was that interesting; it was just kind of generically nonsensical. But, so it goes. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I think that, all things considered, the first movie was actually a better job. This isn't saying a whole hell of a lot for either film, though. So I think that closes up the BloodRayne series. Next up is a couple Resident Evil films. I'm skipping the first one since I've already seen it, but I'm all set to start checking out the sequels. Onward!

Happy St. Patrick's day, everybody!
