Back in the saddle? Ish?
Dec. 1st, 2018 06:44 pmI know that a pattern that's been oft-repeated in the past is that I'll try to get back in the blogging habit around New Years, and then I generally fall out of it some months (or weeks) in. Maybe this is that again, but starting early. I've been thinking for a while, though, that I want to get back in the habit of daily (or nearly daily) blogging, even if it's just a little entry, and even if I don't really have anything to talk about, if for no other reason than to have a little record of things to look back on, because I've kinda been missing that. I'm also going back and forth on whether I want to even go so far as to make backdated entries for things I may want to reference later, just so I can get the dates right. Right now I'm leaning toward yes.
Like, for example, two days ago, Thursday night, T and I went out to Strand to see a talk by N.K. Jemisin, which was pretty great. And that's a thing I'd like to have on my look-back-at-things calendar, ya know?
And besides all that, I've been missing the void-journal, I guess. Social media posts to me have a different feel to them than personal blog prattling. And I've been slowly on the social media decline for a while now, and I find I don't particularly miss it, but I'm kinda missing the personal blog prattling, so...here we are.
I don't guess it's worth doing a big catchup event. I may just touch on things as they come up. But I like this space as a kind of venting area or unwind spot, so I think I'm going to try to get back to that. We'll see how it goes. This isn't for an audience. Maybe that's the different feel I'm talking about.
Anyway. Hi again, journal.
