Attempted catch-up
Jan. 23rd, 2019 10:45 pmWow, just straight-up didn't blog last night. I was pretty wiped out from being sick. I thought I was going to skip the MM stream, even, but what I did instead was try to catch it from bed. I lost the stream like halfway through, though, and just went to sleep. I'm sure I left a bunch of stuff undone, not the least of which was blogging. Plus I know I didn't even really blog from Sunday or Monday, either, so...let's see.
As mentioned, Sunday night T and I went to Meg and Dan's wedding, which was quite lovely. I was part of the podcaster contingent, basically, so that was actually pretty nice to get to hang out and catch up with people. And even meet people face-to-face for the first time! So, lemme see...James and Mel were there, and that was the first time I met Mel. Jeff and Aaron from AMFC, and of course it's good to see Jeff, but I got to meet Aaron, and that was pretty awesome. Darcy was there; I know we've bet before at one of the Double Exposure cons, but we've not really had a lot of facetime or anything, so it was cool to spend time with her. Brandon and James from SHR. I think that was it for the people I know? I took selfies with everyone, I think, though none of them turned out that great. Actually none of my pictures turned out that great. :) So I look forward to seeing pro photos from the event. Anyway, it was a lovely ceremony, a fun party, and a good time. There were even games to play and I didn't end up playing anything! There was a surprising amount of dancing. So, yeah. Good times.
Monday I think I basically covered. That was when I was realizing I was sick, but I did my catchup and got a GS edit done.
Tuesday (yesterday) was the rough day. I had canceled therapy because I knew even if I wasn't too sick to go, I'd probably be too gross to go. :) Ended up doing some grocery shopping, though, so that was good. Restocked the larders a bit, and also got some pea soup materials. It's been bitterly cold here the last few days, so I was really craving some split pea soup. I made a nice batch of poultry-based, too, maybe my first, so that Tabitha could enjoy, as well, and we've had it for dinner the last couple nights. Got a bit of work done around the cooking, but nothing on the pod front. It was an okay day; I was just wiped.
Today, I was supposed to go deep into the next DFA edit, but I didn't end up spending that much time on it...maybe just a couple hours. I gotta buckle down on that tomorrow. As far as I know there's no TH audio yet, so I don't think I'm on the hook for that this week? Still...trying to leave some space in case I need to tackle it last-minute, but if not, I've also got a BSO on deck. I'm definitely slipping on my dailies and stuff, but I'm just a little low on energy this week. If the three-day pattern holds, though, this should be the last day of sick, so we'll see how tomorrow goes.
Guess that's about it. This post will see me hitting my dailies today, though, minus i/i, which, as always, I'm having to let slide in favor of pods. Still working on getting all that stuff to work out on a daily basis. I'm also hoping to be jumping on board with a new, dare I say regular, gig, but nothing final yet, so...per my usual, I'm not saying too much about that until it's a done deal.
One thing...I did spend more time on social media today than usual. Well, Twitter, I guess, specifically. Nice to get back in there, but man do I forget how much of a time sink that can be. It's hard to manage when I also have social media as part of work. What I realized today (Captain Obvious) is that if I want to be able to swing that kinda stuff, I really have to set some boundaries and expectations around it, because taking in social media is literally never done. Can't drink that whole fire hose. That'll need some work, I think, to get to a sustainable-but-still-useful place. Oh, speaking of that, I'm also resolving to pay more attention to MMP marketing. Might be a topic I'll revisit, but we'll see.
Yeah, guess that's about it. Hoping I'll have shaken the last of the cold tomorrow, or at least back to a reasonable portion of functionality. Definitely gotta dig into DFA no matter what else, so that'll be the priority. Onward!
