In the pod mines
Apr. 11th, 2019 01:14 amWow am I up too late. So, let's see... Primarily today was pod editing. I finished up ABP in one go, which is great, but didn't get to TH at all, so that's tomorrow's project once I clear the Thursday morning dailies. ABP took longer than I thought it would take. Part of it was there being more raw audio than I expected, but also I think I'm still just moving slow. Guess I can put that theory to the test with tomorrow's TH edit. Given the rough specs, I should be able to finish TH faster than I did ABP, but I'm interested to see how it goes. Every once in a while I get the inkling to track my hours spent on this stuff more granularly. I mean, that's probably a good idea regardless, just to have the data and be able to project manage myself and stuff. But, I dunno. I guess some of that goes hand-in-hand with sticking to the schedule I lay out, and that never seems to go that well, either, so...maybe this all has to come together...you know...together. :)
In any case. Not a whole lot else from the work front, I don't guess. Stuck my oar in for some organizing on some of the non-public stuff, but nothing that took up a lot of time, so it's not that big a deal. Managed to hit my dailies but, as you can see from the timestamp, it means putting in kind of along day for it. What happened was, after T got off work, she wanted to run some errands, which I thought were going to be quick, but one of them turned into a long-ass shopping trip in preparation for Passover next week. Which is fine, I don't mind the shopping, but it took a few hours out of the evening. It's not that I had anything particularly pressing, and I could have easily let some stuff slide, but I figured...I was up anyway, and I had dinner late, so I didn't want to head straight to bed, so lemme try and go clean on the dailies. Plus I had some leftover business from the day to attend to, emails to write and so forth. It's fine, just might be a bit tired tomorrow. Or Friday, actually, more likely.
Oh! So one new thing is definitely public now: I've started a new series on Gnome Stew! It's called The Indie Game Shelf and it's a way for me to highlight indie games that I don't think get enough love. First installment is here; I covered Erika's game BLACKOUT. I dunno if I love this style. I tried to pay attention to keeping out of first person and kind of hold a neutral tone, but I think I took it too far; it doesn't feel super engaging. Maybe next time I'll try and spice it up a bit and make it more personal. I dunno...I'll talk to the gnomes, maybe, and see.
So...yay for new things. And yay for new things I can actually talk about in public. :) The other stuff...I dunno. It's progressing, that's about all I can say, I guess. Might take weeks or months, though, before stuff is really public, so...afraid that's gonna be all the updates on that for a little while.
So, yeah. Another busy day, which I guess is good. Healthwatch is fine; nothing to report. Oh...but a blast from the past: I found out late last night that Randy Wang got the whole Pretty Good Podcast backlog back up. Talk about nostalgia! It's pretty great, actually, remembering how big a part of my life that show was. A different time, to be sure, but dang...some good memories there. I dunno. Not a lot to say about it I guess, but it meant something to me once, and it's nice to see it back.
Anyway. It's way past my bedtime, and T is probably already asleep, so I should go get some shut-eye, myself. I think tonight's ice cream is sufficiently digested by now. :) Until tomorrow.
