Welp...turned out to be radio silence until Monday instead of Sunday, but it's time to get back on that horse. So...the trip went more or less as planned, though it took a bit longer than expected. It always does on those long trips, since Friend Computer can't account for all the breaks I take and whatnot. :) But anyway... I left on Thursday later than I intended. I thought I'd get going a bit after dropping of T at work, but since I hadn't prepped and also I had a little bit of work to do, I didn't end up leaving until closer to lunchtime. The way that times things out, I got stuck in SO much traffic, because I must have hit rush hour around D.C. Blah! Oh, plus there was the additional excitement of getting pulled over on the interstate because the EZPass was in HOV mode. Jesus Christ. So that's a thing, apparently. I stayed on the road a little longer than I had originally planned, finally calling it quits close to midnight or so, and I was still farther out from Atlanta than I had wanted to be, but oh well. I prepped some work, and then hit the sack for a short sleep.

I had work to do on Friday morning, but I had wanted to do it at like 9 or 10, which would have been fine if I'd gotten to a couple hours of Atlanta, but I was more like five hours out, so instead I got up friggin' early and hit the road immediately. Then I stopped while on the road and did the work I needed to do from a Dunkin Donuts with wi-fi. :) Ah, technology. Then I ran into a bunch more traffic around Atlanta proper, which was not wholly unexpected, let me tell you. So I didn't end up getting there until like 4. I had originally planned for getting there around noon. The lateness meant we didn't have time to make full use of getting storage space, but we at least got something and offloaded a carload's worth of stuff, and thankfully we got everything else to fit for the ride back. Loaded up the stuff and the kid and headed out.

We took off probably around 7 or so? I think? Somewhere in there we stopped for dinner at this really good chicken sausage place, so that was a cool farewell to the city. I think we drove until around 10 or 11 or so before calling it a day. I got a much better night's sleep that night than the night before. I wasn't in a tremendous hurry, but also I knew we had a hell of a long drive ahead if I wanted to make it back by Saturday night, so we still hit the road early.

The drive back on Saturday was largely uneventful. I had to take a few extra bathroom breaks, but overall, I think it went fairly well. Got back home close to midnight, and I just basically sacked out immediately. We didn't even unload the car. I really needed the rest. The trip really took it out of me!

Sunday was vaguely slated for recuperation, and I figured I could use the time for catchup if I felt like it. Friends, I did not feel like it. I totally blew off Sunday; basically did nothing but watch TV all day. T went out with the family for most of the day, so I just kinda zoned out on my own. I figured I could spend Monday on catchup and then get to work on the week.

Yeah, well...that didn't happen. :) Well, not really. I spent, say, half the day on catchup, but it was mostly domestic chores and stuff, not any work work. Got groceries, did some cooking, unloaded the car, finished unpacking, post-trip paperwork...that kinda stuff. My inbox is a disaster area. So I gotta get that sorted out somehow, but now I gotta get to work. At the very least I have GC and FaFDM. I've slated GC for tomorrow. Oh, and also I have to take the car in for an oil change; apparently it was a pretty intense trip. ;) FaFDM I'm hoping to start (and maybe finish?!) on Wednesday, but we'll see. If I was smart, I would also work on Project Crossroads this week. And I should be trying to get ahead of the curve on future pods, because it's a real good bet that I'm going to be going back to Atlanta sooner rather than later, but just the one more trip.

I am so tired. It's entirely possible that it was the trip that wiped me out. It was a lot of driving, a lot of physical labor, and then a lot of driving, with one of those nights only getting half a night's sleep. So I'm not, like, especially salty about feeling some after-effects. It's also possible that I'm sick; I was trying to pin down today whether the aches I was feeling were like...activity aches or like sick aches. Plus no reason it couldn't be both, right? But I'm just feeling so run down, and it's just a reminder to me that my body is a machine that's breaking down, and that's never fun to think about.

I guess that counts as healthwatch. :) I've been, like, slightly headachey, and also I think I fucked up my stomach a little bit on the trip, but honestly I have no one to blame but myself for forcing myself to finish up a Sheetz quesarito when I really knew I shouldn't. But there's plenty to be thankful for: no back problems, no knee problems, no panic attacks in the car. Like...all things considered, I think I held up pretty well. So...I guess it's not so much a mortality thing as it is a thing about not taking better care of myself. And, as always, that's something under my control that I'm not doing anything about, so...I know where the responsibility lies with that one.

Anyway. This is all old turf to tread. I just need to get to bed and get some sleep. :) So. Tomorrow's big plan is an oil change and a pod edit. Whee, life. :)

Was kinda nice to get back on the road, though. So there's that. :)

EDIT: Forgot to mention. I went through the mental preflight checklist and stuff before I left, and I found a little hole in that. :) I made sure to pack my laptop because I knew I had work I had to do, and I somehow made it a point to take the external drive, which Soth knows I don't need, but I managed to completely forget to pack the power cord. :) So upon realizing this when I was setting up for work prep Thursday night, I was like, "Welp...I have one battery charge to get everything done this weekend." Which turned out to be enough, but it was pretty funny for a while there trying to work on the lowest possible brightness setting. :) Anyway...just wanted to note that for the record. It's always something!
