All right...gettin' back on this horse. It's been more than a week since I last posted! There's been a fair amount going on, but also last weekend was a major disruption, and I guess it's taken me forever to recover. So, let's see if I can recap.

Before that, though, since the relevant events or projects have passed, let me clear up a few blogonyms. Project Bullwinkle referred to my organizing the help desk for Gauntlet Con 2019, which took place last weekend and which is most of the reason I haven't been posting lately. :) This is further confused by my having been referring to it (many, many times) erroneously as Project Riverbed, which was actually the Misdirected Mark Twitch channel launch, which has long since been and gone. So that's those. There are also two other unrevealed code names, Project Rocky and Project Crossroads, neither of which is going to come to anything, I don't think. Project Rocky was a short-lived foray into community management which has fizzled, and Project Crossroads was some freelance writing which I was initially kind of excited about, but which looks like is gong to be languishing in dev limbo forever, so I'm just writing it off, at the very least mentally. So with that, I'm clearing my code name slate.

So.

I last left off on a Tuesday, which was the Tuesday prior to Gauntlet Con (which launched on Thursday). So I basically have no memory or notes of what I did that day, but it was probably getting set for the launch and doing last-minute organizing and junk. Thursday through Sunday was Gauntlet Con proper, and let me tell you, I have never fucked so bad with my sleeping schedule in my entire life. For those four days, I basically didn't get any real sleep. I'd grab a couple hours here, an hour there, 20 minutes over there, when I could, and otherwise I was pretty much just doing con work, or a video game in the background if I was sitting a shift and trying to stay up. It was rough. I mean...it didn't feel rough at the time, but the effects lasted all week, I think. It was also worthwhile, though; I don't want to give the impression that I didn't enjoy myself or that it wasn't fulfilling. A lot of it was making my own (unused) bed; there were a lot of things I could have done better or planned better. Or both. So it was a learning experience, but also an experience experience, and I'm pleased to have showed up and done the work. But, yeah...it really took it out of me for the rest of the week. :)

T had made plans to go out and visit Gb that weekend, since I'd told her I'd be working all weekend, but the visit was actually shorter than I originally thought it would be, so T had to live with me zombified for a couple days. They had a good visit, though, which is nice.

After the con, the rest of the week was me, like, half-assedly trying to tread water. I was trying to keep up with regular work and catch up with the stuff I had pushed off from the previous week. Part of what I did really poorly with the Gauntlet Con planning was thinking that I'd have time while organizing or sitting a shift to get other work done. I got no other work done; all I did was play Star Traders. So the whole week I was basically trying to adjust back to regular sleep while doing my usual work, plus I was finishing up late work on both GC and ECB. God, so late. But, in the end, shit eventually got done somehow. So around Thursday I was more or less caught up, save that the Gauntlet video post was going to be late, but now we come to something unexpected.

Late in the week I found out that H's father died, so that was a shocker. Very Jewish family, so the funeral and burial was right away on Friday morning. So Thursday I did what I could, but from butt early Friday to the afternoon, T and I were out at funerary proceedings. So that was a whole thing. There was a surprising turnout. I mean, not surprising; the guy was popular. But it was a big turnout. Not many people from our crew were there; we caught up with ML and TM. Got a bit to eat after the service (which was nice, though mostly in Russian), and then came home. T napped, and I finished up my Gauntlet work. I think that was pretty much it. We just kind of spent the evening in; it was pretty low-key.

So that was yesterday. Today, Saturday, T has her appointment in Brooklyn, so I'm left to my own devices for now. Basically doing a bunch of catchup -- had to finalize the Gauntlet post, finished a whole bunch of MM stuff that I'd pushed off during the week, some admin cleanup, junk like that. I really need an inbox day. Maybe tomorrow?! So here's the other thing...Metatopia is right around the corner (next weekend), so I have a short week this week (again!), so learning from my previous mistake, I'm trying to get some shit done early. One problem with that is that I'm still behind from last week! So vaguely, before Thursday, I should get done: CL, ECB, and GC. So the plan was to get started on that this weekend; particularly CL which should even be next week's work; that should have been last week, but my lateness on ECB pushed it back. So let's say ECB this weekend, CL and GC next week, and then four more days down to a con.

That should be my last con for a while. It's getting to the point where I can neither justify the time nor the money until I at least get some job stuff settled or something. I mean, I'm gonna say next Metatopia is a good bet (or at least a good goal!), and I can maybe think about QCC, depending how the scheduling goes on that; if they do it in July again, I may just skip it regardless. I'll be really sad to miss Breakout in March, but I honestly don't think I can swing it in my current circumstances. So, yeah...given my state of mind and general affairs, I'd even be considering skipping Metatopia, honestly, except that I'm pretty sure it'll be my last con for a while, so I'd at least like to make a go of it.

So. That's pretty much me caught up. It's an early afternoon post today to put a button on the dailies, but I haven't even cracked open the CL edit, so I should get that rolling. I'm assuming Monday will be my CL finish-up day regardless of anything else, so that's basically just Tuesday and Wednesday to do a complete GC and ECB. Yikes. Might have to plan on getting some work done during the con. So it goes.
