Wil Wheaton recently linked to this picture, which I found uproariously funny. And then it occurred to me that there are several different layers here. Layer one is something like the non-geeks, who probably understand that something nerdy is going on. Layer two is the geeky layer, who understand just what the photo represents. Layer three, though, is the layer of people who have grossly misspent their lives wasting time on the Internet for years and years and who have actually seen that photograph before. Kinda makes you...stop and take stock of your life, ya know? ;)

Anyway...pulled a long-ass shift last night. I commuted home during daylight hours, which I've found to be unfun. Also found that my room is ill-suited to sleeping to late afternoon, at least now during the winter months. I actually had to blindfold myself, there was so much sunlight. Gotta get some blackout curtains or something. Going back for my Saturday shift soon enough. Didn't get enough sleep. And then after tonight I have to run right back into Sunday afternoon. I think I'm going to crash big-time on Monday. Shall see.

So here's my day so far. I got up, I stumbled around a little bit, I ate a little breakfast, I took a shower. Then I logged in and started catching up on LJ and whatnot, and that's basically what I've been doing until now. Except that I just got up to go to the bathroom. Which seems superfluous to mention, but will make sense in just a moment or two.

So broadly speaking these days, I get the odd infrequent irregularity in my body. Nothing big, nothing serious, just the general kind of joints out of whack for a little while or brief numbness or tingling or mysterious pain. Again, nothing that's ever really serious, just stuff that happens because you're, you know, biological. I never think much of it, and I tend to assume things will get better on their own, and they usually do. More stuff usually crops up on the weekends, since I'm working and going through more irregular motions and whatever, so I'm even more inclined to ignore something that's off-kilter.

Anyway. So today I felt like there was a little something strange going on "downstairs." Again, I never gave it serious thought, and I just assumed it would get better on its own. No pain, and nothing even to raise any alarm bells; it was just kind of...there. Something wasn't altogether perfect, but I assumed it would be fine eventually. So now we get to the part where I just went to the bathroom. While there, I just discovered that for the last couple hours, I've had my underwear on backwards. Not to put too fine a point on it, but I'm feeling much better now.
