What is time even
Dec. 3rd, 2019 07:03 pmSkipped a day? Looks like? I was just super tuckered out last night; I think that's why I didn't get a blog entry in. It's so far been a week of...well, a certain amount of unpredictability, but surprisingly enough it's also been...somewhat productive? Or at least not a trash fire, which is normally what happens with schedule disruptions. :) So...let's see...
Monday. What was supposed to happen: The super was supposed to come by to fix a radiator valve that is leaking water into the unit downstairs. Also, separately, a water shutoff was also scheduled for that morning, but that was somewhat opportune, since I was supposed to head out west for a family gathering. The scheduling was actually pretty tight; I needed the valve thing to be done so I could head out in time for family, but I figured things were more or less in order. What actually happened: Firstly, the family gathering got canceled due to weather, which is totally fair; the snow was not to be trifled with that day. But no biggie; it meant I could relax about the valve and get some work done. Secondly, though the water shutoff for the building was for a big project that apparently didn't go well, because at first the super called to push back the valve job (which ordinarily wouldn't have been doable, but since my other plans got canceled, was fine). Also he let me know that the water shutoff was reschedule for the next day (today), which was good in a sense, because my family trip was canceled I now no longer had a reason to be out of the house while the water was shut off, but now that the water wasn't being shut off, that was fine. Anyway. Later he called back again and canceled the valve job, which we rescheduled for Wednesday (tomorrow). So there I was with both my appointments for the day canceled and with water still in the building, so...yay? I got some miscellaneous catchup and stuff done, but I still felt a compulsion to leave the house, since I had all these plans and now suddenly had nothing, so I went to get some pet supplies, and I also picked up some materials to "fix" my jacket, which I feel good about. (I'll get back to that jacket thing later.) I feel like I fucked around a bunch that day, too, but also I was just tired as shit.
Oh, so, yeah, lemme back up. For some godsforsaken reason, I stayed up really late on Sunday night playing video games. (I went back to city-building and forgot how hard that is to turn off.) So I was kinda fucked up on Monday from not getting enough sleep, and then the whole scheduling thing threw me, too. So, yeah, I was a little out of sorts yesterday, and I had trouble getting to sleep last night.
So. Today. Tuesday. I woke up tired, so there's that. :) What was supposed to happen: Therapy in the morning, and also the rescheduled building water shutoff, so basically I had planned on going out grocery shopping to eat up some time out of the house. I had also (on Sunday when I was sketching out the week) planned to do laundry today, but that was before the water shutoff got rescheduled, which was a think I didn't think about at the time. What actually happened: Therapy got canceled. (Again, no problem. Child emergency...these things happen.) So that's ordinarily fine, but today in particular it meant I'd lost my reason to first leave the house, which was my launching pad to doing other things today but also more necessary today than usual because of the water shutoff. So I figured I'd go out grocery shopping anyway, and maybe take my time doing it, but I know T wanted to put together a special list, and that wasn't done yet, and there's nothing on my own list that I need immediately, so it seemed pointless to go grocery shopping before T's list was ready. So now I had no remaining reasons to leave the house, except that the water was being shut off and I didn't want to hang around (nor was I properly prepared to do so). So what I ended up doing was...I did laundry anyway, but I just took it to a laundromat instead of using the in-building machines. So I got laundry done despite the water being shut off and it took me out of the house during the water shutoff. Win-win! :) After that, I still felt like I should be out of the house for longer, so I decided to go out to buy some gloves (heh...again, related to the jacket thing). So that was basically my morning. In the afternoon I buckled down for dailies and did pretty well. Wrangled the rest tonight for the evening shift, so here I am, blog posting to put a button on that. So nice to just sit down, check things off the list, and go clean on the dailies. I feel like it's been forever since that happened. On the other hand, I didn't get much else done today besides that, but on the other other hand, that's not bad for being out of the house for half the day. Plus getting laundry done. I'm taking the W. :)
Whew.
So. The jacket thing. As you may or may not recall, dear reader, some time ago I completely mysteriously lost my jacket, which is a thing that still haunts me to this day, but whatever. Life goes on. Recently, when the weather started to turn, I got a replacement jacket. I like it for the most part, but one of the things that bothers me about it is that it has Velcro on the sleeve cuffs for adjusting the size, but also Velcro on the front to close the flap that covers the zipper. When I'm driving (or sometimes if I'm just standing around in the right position), my right sleeve would attach itself to my abdomen because of the Velcro interaction, and it was really annoying me! So I was pretty proud of my solution; I headed to Michael's and picked up some Velcro strip crafty stuff, and I just took one side of the Velcro and, well, Velcroed it to my sleeve cuffs, thereby neutralizing the exposed surfaces there. Worked like a charm! Plus it has the added bonus of being non-invasive and completely reversible, should circumstances dictate. Not like those binder clips I put on my old jacked to hold the straps down when the Velco went bad. So, yeah. That's the jacket thing.
Oh, but...for the later jacket thing reference. The reason I had to buy new gloves is because when I lost my jacket before, I also lost the gloves and hat that were with it. As we know, I fear change, so while it was somewhat trying to buy a new jacket, I think I lucked out and found more or less exactly the same gloves I had before, so that's a thing. :) I also got a new hat. I'd been using a backup hat for a while since the loss of the primary hat with the jacket, but the backup hat is just...so-so, so for ten bucks, why the hell not, I'll buy a new hat along with my new gloves.
So, yeah, there you have it. Ready for winter now, I guess. :) Could use some new boots, probably, but let's not get wild.
Anyway. So here we are, and I'm...somewhat caught up? Inbox is still a wreck, and I should absolutely get rolling on some pod edits lest I fall behind again. Plus, you know. That whole job thing. But anyway. Tonight the MM show comes back after its November hiatus, so that's my plan for the night. Glad I got my work done. Feeling pretty all right about how the day turned out, I'll tell you what!
So that's it for now. Let's see how tomorrow goes and if this valve ends up getting replaced or what. :) Besides that, I think I can devote the whole day for work! Unless this grocery list things gets resolved and compels me to go shopping. But we shall see. Apparently I'm getting better at calling audibles with the schedule. :) Who am I?!
