In with the new
Dec. 5th, 2019 06:56 pmWelp. Since I had TWO WHOLE DAYS to work on ECB, I decided that today might be a good day to start learning Reaper and trying to pod edit with that instead of Audacity. I'd say I met with mixed success. It definitely moves faster, and the sound correction part works just how I want it, so that's good! Between that and the not freezing and crashing thing, I was feeling pretty good about it. On the other hand, though, I'm having a hard time getting used to it for the actual content editing, which is the bulk of what I would need it for. I definitely spent some time tweaking the shortcuts and stuff to cut down on the muscle memory I'd have to relearn and such, but it also just...handles things differently, so it's pretty slow going. Still and all, I think it may end up being worth the investment. I just need to work with it some more and get into an editing rhythm, and if I can get there, then it should be all good.
That's honestly all I really have to report from today. I made a concerted effort to make today a dedicated pod editing day. I didn't make nearly as much progress on ECB as I normally would have expected to, but considering I'm trying it out on brand new software, I actually feel okay about that. I expect I should still have it finished up tomorrow, which is more or less on time. :) Then if I get to a point where I feel like I can edit as fast (or so) on Reaper as I could with Audacity, I'll think about whether it's worth the investment, but I'm thinking it probably will be.
But, yeah, that's really it. Just a heavy audio editing day, and much of that reading manuals and checking out tutorials. Hopefully it'll go smoother tomorrow. Onward!
